Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Volleyball Association (LVA) President Advocate Mpho Phalime has been elected as Zone VI second member Gender Minority position in the Executive Committee of Confederation<\/p>\n

of African Volleyball (CAVB). LVA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Buller Phalatse showed that the appointment of Phalime is a result of the CAVB elections which were carried out from the 25th to<\/p>\n

26th October 2020 through video conference, whereby Lesotho was represented<\/p>\n

by LVA President in Zone VI African region, which is built of Lesotho, South Africa (SA) Botswana, Eswatini, Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique. He however indicated that this position of<\/p>\n

Gender Minority is recognized as a new portfolio in CAVB determined to provide the equivalent services to the nation at all times. Phalatse added that as<\/p>\n

an association, it is their anticipation that Phalime will perform well in her new assignment that runs in line with the initiative that the LVA has already adopted<\/p>\n

in its strategies \u2013 of the inclusivity of women\u2019s rights during tournaments, which brought attention to the groups that annually face inequality from volunteers and volleyball teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis tournament is usually carried out during the celebration of women\u2019s month by volunteers and volleyball teams by<\/p>\n

registering a team thorough contribution of sanitary pads intended to assist the schools or the communities where the tournament is held,\u201d He stated. According to the press<\/p>\n

handout issued on the 26 October 2020 by Zambian Volleyball Association (ZAVA) General Secretary Chesekela Gift, the newly elected CAVB board consists of Bouhra Hajij from Morocco as President and the<\/p>\n

Zonal Vice Presidents are Adnan BAKBAK from Libya (Zone I), Rodrigues ANTNIO CARLOS from Cape Verde (Zone II), Casmir Sawadogo from Burkina Faso (Zone III), Dokony Adiker Idriss from Chad (Zone<\/p>\n

IV), Waithaka Kioni from Kenya (Zone V), Fredrek Ndlovu from Zimbabwe (Zone VI), Federation International Volley Ball FIVB Members are Habu Gumel from Nigeria, Sanga Issouf Kone<\/p>\n

from Cote d\u2019lvoire and Daniel Koboa Molaodi from Botswana while Agnes Nakaonga Kakoma from Zambia and Mpho Palime from Lesotho are Zone VI Gender Minority.<\/p>\n

The Presidents of the 7 Zones are made up of Zone I Mustapa Lemouchi from Algeria, Zone II Bai Dodou Jallow from Gambia, Zone III Paul Atchoe from Ghana, Zone IV<\/p>\n

Christian Matata Shwiti from Congo, Zone VI Khalid Cassam from Mozambique and Zone VII Kayseeven Teerovengadum from Mauritius. Asked about LVA preparations<\/p>\n

for the commencement of games, Phalatse informed that the association is in groundwork to commence games following the debut of COVID-19 pandemic. \u201cThe emergence of<\/p>\n

COVID-19 interrupted the commencement of LVA league which had to be postponed. But the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission advised the association to<\/p>\n

come up with propositions for resumption of games and the LVA National Executive Committee (NEC) is heading to a special meeting with volley ball teams\u2019<\/p>\n
