Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Six students from Botho University Lesotho have scooped positions at the 5th Huawei Information Communications Technology (ICT) regional Final Sub-Saharan competitions hosted online by Huawei.<\/p>\n

The six were awarded trophies, certificates and cash prizes at Botho University campus by Huawei, last Friday. Botho University students participated in the competition in two teams, namely; Team A and B.<\/p>\n

Participants under Team A included Thuso Sehloho, Sebolele Kala and Sechaba Ramabele while Team B comprised Mapota Kalosane, Katleho Motete, Relebohile Lekhera.<\/p>\n

However, only Team A made it to the Global Final organized virtually by Huawei HQ in China to be held from November 6 to 14, 2020. Team A has already started making preparations for the final.<\/p>\n

The Sub-Sahara African finals of the Huawei Global ICT Competition, under the theme of \u201cConnection, Glory, Future\u201d, kicked off on 10 September with an online opening ceremony.<\/p>\n

It is believed to be the biggest event of its kind in Africa covering 14 countries and attracting over 50,000 students. Globally, the Huawei ICT Competition 2019 to 2020 has covered over 70 countries worldwide, with 150 000 contestants from more than 2,000 universities and colleges. Launched in the region just five years ago, the Huawei ICT Competition has developed into the largest ICT skills competition in Africa.<\/p>\n
