Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) on Wednesday received a donation of a Toyota Quantum minibus, courtesy of the Lesotho National Insurance Group (LNIG) at the police headquarters in Maseru.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Police, \u2018Mamoipone Senauoane, spoke at the event during which the M630 000 vehicle was handed over by the LNIG representatives, whom she thanked saying \u201cthis gift came at a great time of need within the police service.<\/p>\n

She said police officers are on call around the clock to attend various scenes of crime, making the gift of some mode of transport meant a lot for them; and also because the police service had a great shortage of vehicles to carry on their duties effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will motivate the officers to continue doing an excellent job, we are really thankful to the insurance group,\u201d Senauoane added.<\/p>\n

The vehicle is earmarked for use at the Police Training College, which according to police management, needs the vehicle direly. \u201cWe have always had a shortage of vehicles as the Lesotho police, and receiving a car as a gift is a blessing.<\/p>\n

We promise to use it wisely and effectively,\u201d said Commissioner of Police Holomo Molibeli at the same event. LNIG representative Ralitapole Letsoela said: \u201cAn insurance company and the police do the same job of protecting people\u2019s lives, and as a result found it a wise move to help out the LMPS. We were actually debating on whether we should buy them uniform or a vehicle, and the Commissioner said a vehicle will be great.\u201d<\/p>\n
