Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The office of Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro has established impromptu ministerial committees to manage emerging national crunches, issues of public interest as well as to promote inter-ministerial collaboration. The Ad hoc committees include among others, the committee that will investigate potential instability in the security agencies.<\/p>\n

In a statement released in the capital Maseru today, the office of the prime minister\u2019s office says this particular committee was set up after some members of the security forces aired grievances emanating from their particular work places.<\/p>\n

The statement further says a committee to investigate trafficking in persons has also been established, following indications that Lesotho is experiencing escalating trafficking in persons.<\/p>\n

A COVID-19 task force that will steer the fight against the pandemic and resultant infections, oversee the formulation and implementation of strategies against the Coronavirus has also been established. A National Reforms steering committee that will support and expedite the completion of Lesotho reforms process is also in place.<\/p>\n

There are also standing committees that have been established, which includes the finance and development committee whose primary purpose is to provide guidance or strategic direction through alignment of budgets and monitoring budgetary and operational performance to fulfil management obligation in respect of efficient and effective use of government of Lesotho resources, investment promotion committee that will support private investment by facilitating and removing roadblocks to Lesotho\u2019s investments process and job creation agenda.<\/p>\n

There is also the human and social development committee whose purpose is to refine national social objectives considering the country\u2019s social objectives status and propose practical and effective strategies to meet national and global social and human development goals. Also established are the infrastructure, governance, rule of law and security, macro policy and the implementation support committees.<\/p>\n
