Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Film actor Selikane Taole says there is still a long way to go as far as the local film industry is concerned. He said the industry is not only threatened by the lack of support by those holding<\/p>\n

powerful positions but also dishonest producers. \u201cDishonest producers are a common battle for most actors, they are killing this industry because some of<\/p>\n

this actors earn a living through their talents and when that talent is taken for granted, they end up losing interest,\u201d he said. Taole further disclosed that the people holding powerful positions in the country<\/p>\n

need to take acting career seriously as it is a proven fact that most Basotho nationals are talented yet they are stagnant in their profession because of<\/p>\n

lack of support in their country, but are mostly recognized internationally. Taole started his acting career in 1997 while he was still a student as Sefika High<\/p>\n

School. He said he joined the drama group during the time when the school management was forcing students to participate in at least one activity within the school compound.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is how I started my acting career,\u201d he added. After completing high school in 2000 he went to Jay Bee Casting in Orange Groove<\/p>\n

South Africa (SA) to pursue his studies in drama and theatre, unfortunately he did not complete his studies and had to come back home to find ways of earning a<\/p>\n

living. Taole mentioned that ever since he rejoined the acting industry, in 2003 he participated in numerous movies such as \u2018Litholoana tsa bohlola\u2019, in 2014 he was part of \u2018Lilaphalapha<\/p>\n

Toropong\u2019 where he was tasked with the character of a priest, 2016 \u2018Maea ke maboea\u2019, 2017 \u2018The Mirror\u2019, 2018 \u2018Wish for my daughter\u2019, 2019 \u2018Palesa\u2019, which raises awareness on human trafficking and currently he is acting in a film \u2018Bophelo\u2019, broadcasted on Lesotho Television (LTV) every Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Taole clarified that internationally he was featured in Botswana where he was part of a music video \u2019Semakaleng\u2019. \u201cFor upcoming actors who wants to pursue a career in acting, they should bear in<\/p>\n

mind that when doing performances they should play characters as they are portrayed in the scripts. It is a technique that worked for me. They should not reproduce<\/p>\n

the artistic works of other performers as that can make them not to grow in the field of acting,\u201d he advised. He showed that in the acting industry he follows trends of the likes of Owen Sejake and Khotso Nkhatho who always empower him regardless of the challenges he meets.<\/p>\n
