Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>In an effort to improve broadcasting services country wide, Alliance Insurance donated broadcasting aiding tools to Lesotho National Broadcasting Services (LNBS).<\/p>\n

The handover ceremony was honoured with the presence of the Minister of Communications Science and Technology Hon. Keketso Sello and his Principal Secretary (PS) Tankiso Phapano.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the recipient, LNBS acting Director General Mothepane Kotelo said they realised a need for equipment but could not afford all necessary needs as per their annual<\/p>\n

budget, therefore they wrote a proposal to Alliance Insurance. She said at first, Alliance Insurance bought them Avanza vehicle which is used by the commercial<\/p>\n

department and secondly provided a quantum, which transport workers to different working destinations as well as taking them to their homes during late hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year they bought us these broadcasting aiding tools, which include four laptops, eighteen desktops and eleven tablets, all these equipment<\/p>\n

will be used by our news departments from Radio Lesotho, Ultimate Radio and Lesotho Television,\u201d she said. Kotelo indicated that from now onwards, their presenters and newsreaders will embrace technology, she<\/p>\n

added that these gadgets are going to be useful, particularly when reporting from other districts of Lesotho since it was the greatest challenge for reporters to broadcast news only when they get to Maseru.<\/p>\n

She said this was owing to the lack of equipment for typing instantly and sending information or news from wherever they are. Sending his gratitude, Hon.<\/p>\n

Sello indicated that he is aware that the handover occurred on the World Radio Day and thus specified that the broadcasting aiding tools will easy their<\/p>\n

ways of disseminating information. He added that this year was marked as a year of \u2018radio in the face of Covid-19\u2019. \u201cCovid-19 is exhausting, radio is the<\/p>\n

simplest channel of broadcasting in terms of educating and informing the nation of this pandemic, am really happy for this equipment as it will be very<\/p>\n

helpful,\u201d he stated. He pleaded for LNBS workers to take good care of the equipment as they did with vehicles they were given and thanked Alliance Insurance for their great support.<\/p>\n

Alliance Insurance Chief Financial Officer Taole Mohapinyane said they have a contract with LNBS whereby they help each other to reach their targets or future expectations.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the expectations is for LNBS to give the nation news that are related to them, the<\/p>\n

expectation is that broadcasting services should improve annually and reach the world\u2019s standards,\u201d he stated. Mohapinyane extended that this year Alliance Insurance management reached an agreement of handing over broadcasting aiding tools to speed up the dissemination of news.<\/p>\n
