Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) awarded Busy Bee English Medium School with M100 000 as the winners of the \u2018pay school fees with EcoCash\u2019 competition. Busy<\/p>\n

Bee English Medium School had the highest percentage of school fees collected through EcoCash during the course of the campaign. ETL Sales and Distribution Manager \u2018Matikoe Letsie explained that the promotion was<\/p>\n

launched last year and ended in August 2020. She said the mandate of the promotion was to encourage schools to participate in the pay school fees with<\/p>\n

EcoCash campaign. \u201cSchool principals were asked to encourage parents to pay school fees using EcoCash,\u201d she said adding that this is how schools increased their<\/p>\n

chances of winning. Letsie indicated that there were prizes rewarded to parents during the campaign as an encouragement to those who paid school fees from M500 and above and data prizes<\/p>\n

worth M50 040 were shared among different schools on a quarterly basis where Busy Bee English Medium School scooped the first and second prize in quarter<\/p>\n

one and three respectively. She said more data prizes worth M5 495 were awarded to a total of 14 lucky parents who paid their children\u2019s school fees using EcoCash<\/p>\n

since the campaign started. Letsie revealed that the \u201cpay school fees with EcoCash campaign\u201d was influenced by the requests made to the Public Relations Office, for assistance in schools<\/p>\n

renovations. \u201cWe are committed to play a major role in social responsibility as ETL,\u201d she said. She said the campaign came as their first step to assisting<\/p>\n

schools. She said schools should be in a safe and conducive environment as children spend most of their time there. Busy Bee English Medium School Board Vice Chairman Koantlane Molefi thanked ETL on<\/p>\n

behalf of the school. Molefi said they intend to contribute within the local setting, more so, the education fraternity. \u201cObviously among those is the issue<\/p>\n

of the school infrastructure in terms of security of learners,\u201d he said. He added that they will build a security wall around the school and provide protection<\/p>\n

equipment to safeguard students\u2019 health during this time of Covid-19 pandemic. \u201cThe M100 000 is going to contribute so much to all the necessities of the school,\u201d he observed.<\/p>\n

ETL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dennis Plaatjies congratulated Busy Bee English Medium School and said the campaign will continue through their programme, HigherLife Foundation.<\/p>\n
