Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Youth have come together to embrace Basotho art and culture through turning waste products into unique and creative designs. Their groundbreaking arty brand, Visionary Infinite Sotho D\u00e9cor and Landscaping<\/p>\n

(VISDL) Pty Ltd aims to promote Africanism through art and culture which brings<\/p>\n

communities together, reveals creativity and brings more life into a place surrounded by artificial. VISDL Director Teboho \u2018Molotsi explained that the business was formed in 2019 and it<\/p>\n

is located at Sekamaneng near Ikhetheleng Complex. VISDL specializes with production of traditional decorations which influences Basotho culture. They<\/p>\n

produce side lambs, Acrylic paintings, coffee tables out of goat skin, artistic lamb and decorating wall hangers among others. \u201c Long time ago Basotho used to<\/p>\n

use raw materials such as animal horns and animal skin for decoration and our work is to collect all those exotic material and try to enhance them into<\/p>\n

decorating products,\u201d he said. \u2018Molotsi said their business idea was inspired by their realization that these resources are habitually wasted while they can be useful, and thereby started recycling<\/p>\n

them. He added that they also learnt that Basotho are slowly deserting their culture and decided to bring it back in a more advanced, artificial way. He said for<\/p>\n

them to attract customers, they have ensured that all their designs are more artistic, therefore more interesting and eye catchy, saying this makes their<\/p>\n

work more unique. Speaking of the challenges they encounter in their business, \u2018Molotsi explained that access to resources has been very difficult for them.<\/p>\n

In addition to that, he said absence of machinery for production is another key challenge as all their designs are handcrafted. He said they have also not yet reached their target<\/p>\n

market. Lehlohonolo Ncube as one of the company directors said for marketing their business, they have been using pamphlets and social media platforms.<\/p>\n

Ncube noted that the aim is to see VISDL grow into a big factory which can supply all the hotels across the country and internationally with artistic decorations and creating<\/p>\n

employment in the country. \u201cTo achieve this dream, we have to own machines which will assist us to produce on a large scale within a short period of time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

VISDL regular customer, Bokang Seakhoa said he bought dropping lights and was attracted by their uniqueness and the creativity on them. \u201cTheir designs are<\/p>\n

too traditional and fancy at the same time. As a great lover for Basotho culture, I instantly fell in love with their work,\u201d he said. Seakhoa said he knew about VISDL through their Facebook page.<\/p>\n
