Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Solidarity Fund in collaboration with Botho University (BU) donated disposable face masks and gloves worth M60 300 to<\/p>\n

four Christian Health Association (CHAL) medical schools on Tuesday. The recipients were; Maloti Adventist College, Paray School of Nursing, Scott and<\/p>\n

Roma college of Nursing. CHAL Schools Representative \u2018Makhabiso Ramphoma, speaking at the handover event, said they are really humbled by the donation from LCCI, especially because the<\/p>\n

nurses training institutions usually come third or fourth when it comes to facilitation yet these are the departments that produce primary health service providers.<\/p>\n

Ramphoma further said without the masks and the gloves, their students would not be able to be trained properly at the hospitals or training facilities.<\/p>\n

She added that without these Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the teachers or nurse educators would not be able to demonstrate medical procedures during<\/p>\n

training. \u201cThese procedures have to be done by nurse educators,\u201d she said. She noted that besides LCCI and Botho, ICAP also extended a helping hand earlier,<\/p>\n

then LCCI is the second organization to help. Ramphoma said because of the exhaustion of PPE, there are some institutions that demand students to have a<\/p>\n

pair of sterile gloves during training in their clinical area and a pair of non-sterile gloves. CHAL acting Executive Director Libete Selapane said they are going to use the<\/p>\n

equipment accordingly. He said LCCI has made things easier for them through their Solidarity Fund. He further said at this stage, most countries have been shaken<\/p>\n

by the COVID-19 pandemic as it has caused them to run out of all the PPE they had collected. He said nurses and doctors are trusted to stand at the front<\/p>\n

line during crises like these to provide health and protection to people, and thus assured that the PPE will be used where it is needed. The Ministry of Health (MoH) Deputy Minister Hon.<\/p>\n

Nto Moakhi took the platform to urge the public to be loyal with the use of face masks. He said most people place them at wrong spots around their faces, such as the chin when they talk<\/p>\n

or drink, \u201cthe face is very sensitive therefore let us start using masks properly\u201d. Moakhi further stated that the COVID-19 cases are increasing at an<\/p>\n

alarming rate in the country and urged people to comply with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health precautionary measures against the virus.<\/p>\n
