Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>NBN Holdings General Manager \u2018Mamatela Nkesi changed her business model from being just a general dealer to selling Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in order to take advantage of the growing demand of PPE.<\/p>\n

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has forced businesses to embrace change and come up with innovative ideas in order to stay afloat. Nkesi said earlier when the pandemic started, people were more vigilant and eager to protect themselves from the virus, as opposed to now when the pandemic seem to be normal.<\/p>\n

She said that was the most flourishing moment for the business, however, it continues to operate smoothly amidst the general business collapse. NBN Holdings Company sells different kinds of PPE; face masks, hand sanitizers and stands, respirators, fogger machines with different sizes for fumigation, coveralls gear, automatic and manual dispensers, thermometers and alcohol based wipes.<\/p>\n

It is located at Metcash building. \u201cThe business does not only sell PPE for profit but also offers information and knowledge, safety and awareness on how to utilize the equipment, as per the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.<\/p>\n

We show people how to wear face masks accurately and fumigation process among other things,\u201d she noted. Moreover, Nkesi stated that PPE availability is scarce in the country as the company import equipment from South Africa (SA) and overseas.<\/p>\n

She said another complexity is with customers who demand discount on a regular basis, \u201cwhich is not what they normally do with big companies. They also want to exchange equipment after utilizing it, that is not acceptable,\u201d she said, appealing for cooperation.<\/p>\n

Motz Cleaning Services is another thriving PPE business based in Mokhotlong. As indicated by its Managing Director Thato Makheka, it trades with hygiene materials and PPE such as hand sanitizers, a variety of facemasks, respirators, safety goggles, and disinfectants foggers for protection against viruses and bacteria.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe greatest challenge is finding stock as the borders are closed,\u201d he highlighted.<\/p>\n
