Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>In order to promote transparency in Lesotho, Basotho established new organization called Transparency Lesotho Sebatalatsi (TLS) which through its subsidiary<\/p>\n

organization, Eagles Intelligence Services (IES) will focus on investigating cases and disclosing the truth. According to TLS Executive Director Ramoletane Lekhanya, the organization is intended to<\/p>\n

promote transparency and fight corruption in Lesotho and was registered on August 4th 2020. As a newly formed organization, it is open for every Mosotho.<\/p>\n

Lekhanya added that IES is formed of a team of professional investigators who will scrutinize cases on corruption as a limitation towards the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

He said the organization will promote transparency in the public and private sectors in Lesotho and study the laws that run the country in comparison to<\/p>\n

laws in countries that rank high on the Transparency International (TI) as well as the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) and then make recommendations for<\/p>\n

amendments to the laws in Lesotho for transparency. Lekhanya added that it will also actively scan the local environment for weaknesses in transparency and<\/p>\n

make recommendations for improvements to policies, procedures, systems and processes. He noted that Basotho need to be educated from a young age about the importance of<\/p>\n

transparency and the negative effects of corruption and malpractice on social, and economic growth. He said the organization aims to hold power to account<\/p>\n

when the country\u2019s leadership either being past or present is allegedly involved in corruption and malpractices. \u201cThe organization will provide protection to transparency activists and witnesses in transparency related<\/p>\n

cases,\u201d said Lekhanya. He said it will also mobilize resources to promote transparency and take action in defense of the ideals of an open and democratic<\/p>\n

society. \u201cAs the nation, we need to come together to support the government for it to be successful and the organization will work together with other stakeholders such<\/p>\n

as the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS), Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) and other departments,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

TLS Deputy Chairperson Sekake Phakisi said in Lesotho there are cases which just vanish into thin air without being thoroughly investigated yet the people following such cases are eager to see justice being served, thus TLS through EIS will be investigating such incidences.<\/p>\n
