Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Social distancing which is one of the public health mitigation measures that need to be followed strictly to avoid the spread of COVID-19 is proving to be a challenge in the textile and apparel industries.<\/p>\n

Thousands of factory workers every day queue to get their hands sanitized before they can resume their daily work. According to some Precious Garments Factory employees who spoke to Public Eye today, the procedure is repeated every day in the morning and before they resume work after lunch.<\/p>\n

Lesotho recorded its first COVID-19 case last week. World Health Organisation (WHO) representative Dr Richard Banda at a recent a press conference said Lesotho has a chance to contain the spread of COVID-19 provided it strictly follows health mitigation measures meant to control the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

He said the success of the country to contain the virus will depend on how the country manages the current single case and how the government will work together with communities in fighting the virus.<\/p>\n
