Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Mohale\u2019s Hoek residents will benefit from the reconstruction of bridges that were destroyed by heavy rainfalls in Siloe, Ha-Moletsane Seaka and Phamong. The residents will be employed in few weeks by the appointed constructor.<\/p>\n

Mohale\u2019s Hoek District Administrator (DA) Bahlakoana T\u0161olo revealed in an interview with Informative Newspaperthat in a week or so, the constructor will employ people around the construction area and there are no specified skills for suitable candidates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis follows the meeting we had a month ago with relevant ministries, about the damage triggered by heavy rains from our respective districts.<\/p>\n

Initially I had contacted the Principal Secretary (PS) from the Ministry of Public Works after discovering that the two bridges from Siloe to Qhoqhoane that binds Ha-Mohohlo and Ha-Moletsane was destroyed and the bridge that combines Phamong and Seaka is also ruined, they are both vehicle bridges,\u201dT\u0161olo stipulated.<\/p>\n

He said their plea was prioritized since the reconstruction will commence in few weeks benefiting the community, he noted that this development comes at the time when vehicles and people are not able to perform their normal duties, especially businesses that rely on transportation.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince the advent of Covid-19, a lot of people have since lost their jobs and it has been difficult for them to recover, some failed to re-build their small enterprises and businesses hence this kind of employment will at least boost and uplift them, hopefully even give them start-up capitals,\u201d T\u0161olo explained.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, \u2018Matholang Kosea, a resident of Ha-Mopooane who uses the bridges at Taung said; \u201cWe have been traveling a long distance on foot to church ever since the bridge collapsed.<\/p>\n

I am thankful and relieved that we will go back to our normal way of doing things, no more walking with my 6 year-old son that long distance, sometimes we could not even make it to church,\u201d Kosea stated.<\/p>\n
