Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The National Reforms Authority (NRA) in cooperation with Development for Peace Education (DPE) have reported on the achievement made on goals that were set in the process of the<\/p>\n

national reforms. NRA has so far developed reports and drafted bills that were submitted to Parliament for scrutiny and adoption. Other notable achievements<\/p>\n

were the establishment of the Amendments to the constitution for Auditor General and the involvement of the Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL) to be amended<\/p>\n

to the constitution. Speaking at the meeting, NRA Committee Chairperson \u2018Mammako Mohale Lerata said the preparation of economy is an exercise which takes time, saying in the process, the committee<\/p>\n

decided to approach the relevant stakeholders and ministries which are the Ministry of Development Planning, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of<\/p>\n

Mining, CBL, the Auditor General, Accountant General, Lesotho Millennium Development Authority, Captains of the Mining Industry and the former Prime Ministers since they trace from the root where economy is intended.<\/p>\n

She stated the former Prime Minister (PM) Dr. Pakalitha Mosisili, former Deputy Prime Minister Kelebone Maope and Hon. Selibe Mochoboroane were very cooperative.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn our development we managed to make consolidated Fund from the Amendments to the constitution that<\/p>\n

already existed, we only worked on numbers, in the Supplementary Budget and Contingency Fund we also worked on numbers. On the Remuneration of Captain Officers we created Remuneration<\/p>\n

Authority which will transparently allocate civil servants salaries. We also came up with a Public Debts Fund, which will outline steps to guide application<\/p>\n

of loans by the government, such that they are responsible and truthful. If ever the country incurs debts, such debts shall be identified or inspected by the<\/p>\n

National Development Commission. \u201cThe Accountant General \u2013 now assumed by \u2018Malehlohonolo Mahase will deal with assets and liabilities of the country, also show the condition of the assets and liabilities and sign the<\/p>\n

certificates of liabilities, as opposed to now when she signs them yet she was not included into plans for taking loans, hence we propose for her to be<\/p>\n

included so that she can present the informal report first,\u201d Lerata informed. She added that it is the role of the Accountant General who keep records, pass them to the Minister of<\/p>\n

Finance and take the report to the cabinet where they established the Economic Advisor Council which was not there, then pass the report to Ministries Council for them to understand the reports, so that the parliament can make an informed decision.<\/p>\n
