Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>A\u2019Lora Hydra Founder Mosa Ramoeletsi was not hesitant to seize the opportunity to grow her business through Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation\u2019s (BEDCO) Business Plan Competition (BPC)<\/p>\n

which saw her and 49 others go home with M100 000 cheques as capital injection last week. Ramoeletsi is a female entrepreneur who abandoned a career in Psychology because she felt that her passion laid<\/p>\n

elsewhere. She said A\u2019Lora Hydra was an idea that manifested in 2019 during her final year at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. A\u2019Lora Hydra is a company that produces and<\/p>\n

sells satin bonnets, pillowcases and hair accessories. The company reportedly became operational in 2020 with the help of a local seamstress. Ramoeletsi said back<\/p>\n

then her business was mainly an exercise to understand the world of entrepreneurship while now she is taking steps in manufacturing hair care products that aim to strengthen, grow and maintain healthy textured hair.<\/p>\n

She said currently at A\u2019Lora Hydra, they have one contractual employee but with the help of BEDCO, she will be increasing possibly two more employees to begin with.<\/p>\n

The company prices range from M50.00 to M350, she said now they are able to produce about 30 to 50 bonnets depending on the demand, and a few pillowcases and hair accessories.<\/p>\n

Ramoeletsi said she has very high hopes for A\u2019Lora Hydra, saying the plan is to distribute and sell hair care products to as many salons and cosmetic chain stores and to have her own salon and warehouse<\/p>\n

to operate from. She mentioned that the more they grow as the company, the more opportunities for employment they are willing to create. The entrepreneur said one of her goals as a business woman<\/p>\n

is to create job opportunities because as a graduate that was once unemployed, while knocking on doors, she realized how limited the opportunities for<\/p>\n

employment are, even for people with experience or qualifications in the corporate world. Like any other business A\u2019Lora Hydra has its challenges. Ramoeletsi mentioned that the biggest challenge so far has been finances because<\/p>\n

her aim has always been to expand the business. She said they have had steady but slow growth over the past two years, but not enough capital to expand the business.<\/p>\n

Ramoeletsi said she was introduced to this competition by a friend who encouraged her to apply. \u201cA kind soul thought it would be good for me to test my luck and send in an application,\u201d said<\/p>\n

Ramoeletsi. Reflecting on the process, she said each phase was nerve wrecking but it offered so much insight into ways to improve the business, she also<\/p>\n

encouraged Basotho business owners to apply for such opportunities. On the future plans, she promised a massive product launch, calling her clientele to keep an eye on her social media platforms to see what A\u2019Lora Hydra has to offer.<\/p>\n
