Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>In their response to address the COVID-19 infection rate, the Lesotho Red Cross Society (LRSC) in collaboration with Standard Lesotho Bank (SLB) are set to launch the construction of 30 tippy<\/p>\n

taps in Mokhotlong on August 19. This is according to the statement released by the LRCS. The statement goes on to highlight that \u201cStandard Lesotho Bank donated the sum of M217, 000 to Lesotho Red Cross Society to ensure construction of the tippy taps. \u201d The tippy tap is a foot lever operated device which is normally installed in places where there is a challenge of running<\/p>\n

water or places which attracts large numbers of people. \u201cThe objective of the tippy taps is to curb the spread of COVID-19 that is usually spread in crowded areas such as bus stops and or taxi ranks which is where the tippy taps will be installed,\u201d reads the statement in pertinent part. The tippy taps are expected to be installed in<\/p>\n

all the districts. \u201cLRSC wishes all Basotho good health and adheres to hygiene guidelines to avoid contracting Coronavirus,\u201d says the statement. Lesotho Red Cross Society is a humanitarian non-governmental organization which assists vulnerable communities through rendering humanitarian assistance. One of the World Health Organization (WHO) preventive recommendations is that of regular washing of hands with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds. With the first COVID-19 case reported on May<\/p>\n

13, as at August 12, the country has recorded 815 positive cases and 24 COVID-19 related deaths out of 10 489 specimen tests according to the Ministry of Health (MoH) reports.<\/p>\n
