Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>For more than a decade the road to Ha-Tshepo village is so bad that drivers are reluctant to take visitors to the village. The challenge is that the village is located near the town of Mohale\u2019s Hoek, where the expectation is that it can be easily reached.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Voice of the Nation, \u2018Governor of Mohale\u2019s hoek Mr Bahlakoana Tsolo explained that the biggest problem they face is the need for money to repair roads.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that the Ha-Tshepo road has been in a state of disrepair for years and needs to be speeded up. He added that all the roads in Mohale’s hoek, including the Ha-Tshepo road, had been promised to be repaired, dug up to cover the pits.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took action when it became clear that the roads were not in good condition. The Ha-Tshepo road is another road that is not well and has been for years, but now it got worse with these many incessant rains.<\/p>\n

The problem that seems to be the above is that the government says there is no money, the road repairs are broken and to be fair it needs the money that is said to be non-existent.<\/p>\n

There are still requests that we made and that are now being answered. We hope that as the process is underway other alternatives will be included in the Ha-Tshepo road as it is one of our applications, \u201dhe explained.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the driver of the passenger car Mr Sechaba Rantsie has expressed doubts in the matter. He said the roads were so potholed that they sometimes faced the risk of car crashes.<\/p>\n

\u201cCars break down on the road, and people who come this way suffer because no one wants to come here and it is expensive to come this way.<\/p>\n

The visitor ends up renting a car to take him there late at night, because in the evening during the chaos the drivers want to come back soon because they are eager to pick you up from other guests, \u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

He said getting to the end of the car, which is Nk’hunkhu, is difficult because when they reach the old bridge they have to stand up, which sometimes becomes traffic jams.<\/p>\n

Commenting, one of the passengers, Mr Thabang Motsoane, said they were tired of the road conditions. He said it was not that the leaders did not see or know about the matter but that they were ignoring the situation.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that there were buses going to \u2018Masemouso\u2019 but due to bad roads they did not go there. “After eight o’clock the cars are no longer in the area, and one ends up looking for a special car that will pay more than the usual price.<\/p>\n

There are no drivers who want to go this way and we as athletes are struggling, \u201dhe said. Motsoane also appealed to local leaders to stand up for themselves. He said the problem was not the community but all of them.<\/p>\n

He added that since 2012 when he first arrived in the area, he had known the road was already in dire straits, and had already gone to the polls three times with the promise of the road.<\/p>\n
