Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Maputsoe Leribe Local Government Candidate Mr Mahlapholane Rantsoti \u2018along with the Maputsoe community are services that do not reach the local community at large.<\/p>\n

Rantsoti said one of the grievances they had was the fact that part of the village such as Ha Masoto, Thoteng and other villages under his care had not been fitted with Apollo lights.<\/p>\n

He explained that when the lights were installed in other villages two years ago and they had been expecting to see the government return to spread the lights in other villages, they did not.<\/p>\n

“The community is really upset about this because they said they expected it to be so far in their villages that it has been installed,” he said.<\/p>\n

Rantsoti went on to say that in the villages where the lanterns are located, it is the community that has made it a point to see that the Apollo are going to light up. He says the community has even joined forces to raise funds to buy electricity so that they can be more efficient.<\/p>\n

He said all they needed now was for the lights to cover the Maputsoe area and for the community, they would take action to ensure that they were illuminated as they were aware of the importance of their presence.<\/p>\n

“Now we are coming out of Easter light and we have seen a big difference as the crime rate has almost decreased,” he said.<\/p>\n

A resident of Ha ‘Mathata village, Mr Thapelo Dangers, in an interview with Voice of the Nation, said the Maputsoe area is notorious for crime and crimes including murder, rape and theft and the presence of these Apollo lights has seen a very big change within the cities.<\/p>\n

He said for years they had this need for lights, they saw it as a great honor that the government had responded to their need but now they were disappointed that they did not reach all the places where they were needed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe often see these types of lights end up in the capital Maseru so now that he has moved into our villages, it is just a matter of time and we as a community will see for ourselves.<\/p>\n

how to buy electricity as we have already seen its value, \u201dhe said. He added that they would also be happy if the government could install traffic control lights on the roads as the roads now enter the villages.<\/p>\n

Accidents also said they hoped that even in villages where the lake road was not accessible, they would see it installed as it helps to reduce traffic significantly over Easter and Christmas.<\/p>\n
