Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>THE problem with Lesotho is that we have an insatiable appetite for rewarding mediocrity. Little wonder we have imbeciles in key positions. For irrefutable evidence of this, look no further than the interviews for High Court judges.<\/p>\n

The chief justice has a torrid time interviewing drunkards, car thieves and lazybones. He must have been shocked to discover that these are the people clamouring to be his colleagues.<\/p>\n

Some could not even fill out a simple questionnaire while others fumbled through the questions as if they had been forced to apply. Others nearly wet themselves as they struggled to explain simple legal concepts.<\/p>\n

Some were fidgeting like cr\u00e8che kids. One was sweating profusely as if he was being interrogated by Molibeli\u2019s people. Another admitted that he spends most of his time drinking hopose at shebeens instead of hearing cases.<\/p>\n

The other tried to pull a fast one by quickly scribbling a judgement that has been pending for years. When asked if she intended to hoodwink the panel she said \u201cyes my Lord\u201d.<\/p>\n

After watching that depressing show Muckraker would like to apologise to Justice Masefokoro for unduly pillorying her. She is a star compared to the jokers that were paraded over this past week.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Muckraker would like to know what makes bearded men and breasted women willingly embarrass themselves. People who should not be holding their current positions are applying for promotions.<\/p>\n

How does an owner of a tummy perennially full of hopose audition to be on the High Court bench? The nerve of it all is shocking. Muckraker hopes the hopose magistrate wasn\u2019t under the influence when he attended the interview.<\/p>\n

At least the chief justice now knows the calibre of his herd. Never again shall he harangue lawyers for being incompetent when the WhatsApp groups in his institution are teeming with hoposists and sleepists.<\/p>\n
