Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Three youth graduates of Upper Moyeni have collaborated in broiler business and farming against poverty and high rate of unemployment. \u2018Matsietsi Rampai, \u2018Mathebe<\/p>\n

Semoko and Lerato Sekele partnered and registered a broiler company dubbed RSS Broiler Production, abbreviated after its members. This was upon their realization<\/p>\n

of the agonizing youth unemployment and poverty in the country. In an interview with Informative Newspaper Rampai said agriculture is one of the most marketable sectors and arguably, the engine of many countries\u2019 economy yet neglected but many especially the local youth. She highlighted that the country like the rest of the world is faced with the possibilities of economic recession.<\/p>\n

warning the youth to be ready, \u201cI therefore urge all the youth to use their skills and labour to create their own employment,\u201d Rampai further stated that agriculture may be made<\/p>\n

fashionable to avoid starvation and to accelerate the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Among other challenges, RSS Broiler Production hopes for more<\/p>\n

equipment to cater for their steadily growing market. However, it is necessary to think out of the box and adapt to new ways of trading to break through the<\/p>\n

Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation according to Rampai. She highlighted that every business has its own vision and it is up to the owners to stick to the<\/p>\n

goal amidst the inflation and stiffy measures set to contain the virus. \u201cLife goes on, and nature always calls for basic needs and money. We have scheduled<\/p>\n

times to do deliveries and filtering days to restrict our movements. Despite Covid-19 adjustments, business goes on and giving up is never an option,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The company provides among others, meat to customers and sells chicken manure to nearby farmers while also using it in their mini garden where they grow vegetables for market supply.<\/p>\n

Rampai also stated that the company is run by people with different qualifications. \u201cMy partners are graduates in Business Administration, thus help us with<\/p>\n

customer care for retaining our customers. I have a degree in Agricultural Economics as an input for professional farming,\u201d she indicated. \u201cBeing employed is not a solution to our financial problems lets<\/p>\n

utilize the scares resources we have and try as much to leave the cycle of poverty \u2013 \u2018being employed\u2019. Agriculture needs our hands and brains, it is the best investment for making millions,\u201d Rampai recommended.<\/p>\n
