Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>You know your career is finished when you fall from being a chief executive of a regulatory authority to being a deputy leader of a silly joke of a political party.<\/p>\n

\u2018Mamarame Matela, the motor-mouth and abrasive former chief executive of LCA, has just fallen with a thud. Boom! Oh, Boom! She is now the deputy leader of the SR. Phew!<\/p>\n

They say SR stands for Socialist Revolutionary but it can also mean Socialist Riffraff, Special Rascals and Shocking Rates (derived from the leader\u2019s machonisa business).<\/p>\n

Of course, Matela doesn\u2019t see the irony of a party owned and funded by a moneylender calling itself a Socialist Revolutionary. Or the fact that she, who was one of the highest-paid chief executives in Lesotho, is now joining a party that claims to be socialist.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t laugh if you know that the SR doesn\u2019t have an executive committee to talk about. The party is stuck in JP\u2019s armpit. Matela smiled ear-to-ear as JP told the SR members that leadership positions were none of their business.<\/p>\n

There was no mention of who had elected her into that position. And Matela did not scream about procedure as she did when she was given a Kung Fu kick out of the LCA.<\/p>\n

All was fine and dandy as if procedures should only apply to corporates. The SR members could not raise a finger to protest because this was a dinner funded by the leader and they were stuffing their faces.<\/p>\n

They were taught well never to speak when eating. And they knew their garrulous leader doesn\u2019t like debating with people he feeds. They all knew what would have happened if someone dared to challenge the leader at the dinner.<\/p>\n

He would have walked to the culprit, grabbed a drumstick from their mouth and kicked them out. Anyway, Matela should be embarrassed for replacing a spent force like Monyalotsa.<\/p>\n

Monyalotsa is Likhopo FC. Matela FC was playing against itself because Likhopo (Monyalotsa) did not even attend the match. Muckraker is however thankful that Matela has confirmed that she is JP\u2019s sidekick.<\/p>\n

It explains her outlandish theories about Vodacom plotting to topple the government. We now know where she probably got that inane idea of trying to control Facebook.<\/p>\n

For those with short memories, Matela is that sister who wanted everyone with 100 Facebook friends to register with the LCA. She also wanted administrators of WhatsApp groups to be under her control.<\/p>\n

She was going after TikTok as well. So much for a digital revolution instigated by a socialist revolutionary who wants to be elected by wretchedly poor people.<\/p>\n

Matela is already reaping the rewards of her dive into politics. SR members were picketing at the Palace of Justice as she appeared in court. This was stage-managed tomfoolery but Matela didn\u2019t care because her new boss had used his party\u2019s clowns.<\/p>\n

Muckraker hopes the new role at the SR will keep her away from writing those long, winding and whining letters she was dispatching to everyone she thought might help rescue her job.<\/p>\n

Her only achievement with those rambling missives was to give legal training a bad name. After reading those torturously incoherent letters Muckraker was convinced that a legal mind is sharpened by use, not in some corporate suit but real court work. Matela is a living testimony that some heads remain hard no matter how many books they have imbibed.<\/p>\n
