Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Botho University (BU) on Friday, 26.06.2020 handed out Masks to Form C and E students at Mampota High School. The relationship between BU & Mampota High School, began<\/p>\n

with the Hlokomela Banana project where the University was assisting with Sanitary Towels to the girls in this school. This noble gesture by Botho University comes at the time when the world is battling the Corona Virus<\/p>\n

(Covid-19) and in order to protect us from the virus wearing of masks has<\/p>\n

become the new normal and it is a welcome gift as a small contribution towards preparing for reopening of schools. In her opening remarks the Principal of<\/p>\n

Mampota High School thanked the University for Always being there at the time of need while on the other hand the representative from Ministry of Education,<\/p>\n

Mrs Palesa Melau congratulated the students of the school for being chosen to receive this needed gift, as well as applauded the University for always providing a<\/p>\n

giving hand. On her part, Mrs Nozipho Lerotholi on behalf of Berea District Command Center, gave an insightful brief on COVID 19, and its possible impact<\/p>\n

on the country, and explained in detail the importance of masks and washing of hands at all times with running water thus taking measures to protect ourselves<\/p>\n

against the virus. On behalf of Botho University, Mankhole Masisi-Thakhisi informed those present, that this was done to support the students and the school in prepare to resume teaching<\/p>\n

and learning once schools open. This community engagement was done under the banner of the Students Affairs & Alumni Department (SAAD) whose responsibilities is the welfare of students and community engagement amongst<\/p>\n

others. A total of 65 students received masks and also the teaching staff of Mampota High School. Mrs Masisi-Thakhisi concluded by providing a brief history of Botho University and<\/p>\n

the bouquet of academic programmes offered by the University, which have all received accreditation from the Council on Higher Education Lesotho ( CHE).<\/p>\n
