Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>In the effort to help the courts ease traffic related cases, the Road Fund has donated a mobile traffic court M1, 1 million to the Judiciary, at the grounds of the Commercial Division of the High Court this week.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Justice, Law and Constitutional Affairs and Human Rights Professor Nqosa Mahao said, \u201cthis is yet another step towards ensuring public trust and confidence in the courts of<\/p>\n

Lesotho. \u201d \u201cAs many of you know, it is an age-old adage that justice delayed is justice denied. We should not delay justice to the nation by making it inaccessible.<\/p>\n

With this mobile court, many in our country are going to access justice easily and in their own hometowns,\u201d charged Professor Mahao. \u201cOur Constitution orders us to afford to the courts any assistance they require to<\/p>\n

make them effective, ensure their independence and guarantee their dignity. \u201d Also, the Senator, Mahao expressed gratitude towards the Road Fund for the gift.<\/p>\n

He concluded by saying that the mobile traffic clinic will be officially launched and handed to the Judiciary by his Ministry when all relevant logistics are in<\/p>\n

order. Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Road Fund Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nkekeletse Makara said the fund is investing back to the very communities that<\/p>\n

feed the organization. He said the organisation\u2019s journey with the courts dates way back, and with the fund having sold the idea to improve Judiciary services handling traffic<\/p>\n

related issues in the administration justice, that proposal was well received. \u201cThis is just the beginning; we will achieve many exploits through cooperation,\u201d the<\/p>\n

CEO said. Makara went on to appeal to the prospective users of the mobile court to use it sustainably. For his part, the Minister of Transport, Hon. T\u0161oeu Mokeretla said the gesture will<\/p>\n

go a long way in speeding up the delivery of justice. Mokeretla remarked that, \u201cpeople need a conducive environment for effective service delivery. \u201d He<\/p>\n

further highlighted that the road users time will be spared, due to the flexibility of hearing traffic related cases \u2018anywhere. \u2019 The team, which will be working with this mobile traffic court, was also presented.<\/p>\n

It includes the Magistrates, Prosecutors, traffic cops, Soldiers and the Road Fund staff working on revenue collection. Fully furnished and air-conditioned with Magistrate chair and four other swinging<\/p>\n

chairs for Prosecutor and defendants, the mobile traffic court also has sirens and an awning tent for shade when it is hot or raining. It also has WiFi<\/p>\n

amenities. The 18 cube vehicle boasts a Magistrate waiting room, which has the toilet, zinc basin and a fridge. The Road Fund is the government parastatal charged with the responsibility to collect roads\u2019 revenue and finance roads maintenance, upgrade and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
