Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Hon. Mat\u0161epo Molise Ramakoae was last week awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the GD Goenka University.<\/p>\n

She was on June 3, conferred a tittle of Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) (h. c) in a fanfare ceremony in India. The Indian University awarded Hon.<\/p>\n

Ramakoae in recognition of \u201cher immense contribution in Public Service of the Kingdom of Lesotho and her service to her nation, the people of Lesotho and her<\/p>\n

distinguished career spanning 3.5 decades\u201d. The University honors exceptional individuals for their meritorious achievement in many fields such as arts, business, public<\/p>\n

service, sciences, social sciences, human rights, and humanities. Asked what this feat means to her, Ramakoae (h. c) said she is \u201chumbled\u201d. \u201cWhile you are working, there will always be some<\/p>\n

people or entities who will recognize your efforts and contribution to your country,\u201d she said. Some of Lesotho politicians who had been conferred with<\/p>\n

Honorary Doctorates are the former Prime Ministers\u2019 Hon. Leabua Jonathan, Hon. Pakalitha Mosisili, Hon. Motsoahae Thabane and former Deputy Prime Minister<\/p>\n

Hon. Monyane Moleleki. Ramakoae (h. c) has served the country in different capacities and within the civil service until she joined politics in 2006 under<\/p>\n

All Basotho Convention (ABC). She has served as a Chief of State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Director of Police Complaints Authority, the<\/p>\n

Principal Secretary in the Ministries of Communication, Science and Technology and Defence and National Security. She has also served as a Board Member in different<\/p>\n

institutions such as the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA). In parliament, Ramakoae (h. c) served in different portfolio committees and she has represented Lesotho in regional and<\/p>\n

international fora. She has served in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), as a Chairperson of Women\u2019s Caucus among others. Hon. Ramakoae has also served<\/p>\n

as a Chairperson of Regional Women\u2018s Parliamentary Caucus in the Southern African Development Community- Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF). Matsieng No. 45 Member of Parliament (MP) now Maama<\/p>\n

No. 45, first held a Cabinet position when she was appointed the Deputy Minister of Finance in 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the National University of Lesotho and a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration from The Hague University in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n
