Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Health (MOH) will join forces with the security agencies to ensure that gazetted Public Health (Covid-19) Regulations of 2020 are adhered<\/p>\n

to by the members of the public. This is according to the statement released by the National Emergency Command Centre (NECC) on Monday. The statement reads in pertinent part, \u201cin solidarity, the Minister of Health<\/p>\n

Honourable Motlatsi Maqelepo and security agencies namely, Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS) as well as Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) have declared their commitment towards<\/p>\n

implementation of Public Health (COVID-19) Regulations 2020. \u201d It further remarked on the bars and night clubs which failed to adhere to prescribed regulations concerning high volume gatherings saying their clients<\/p>\n

\u201cfailed to observe social distancing, key compliance in curbing the world wide outbreak. \u201d Meanwhile,<\/p>\n

there are pictures trending on social media platforms of people partying in one of the night clubs in Maseru and elsewhere in Mosalemane constituency where<\/p>\n

scores flocked to attend a horse race. \u201c\u201d We all can attest to the fact that the virus has proved beyond reasonable doubt that health is wealth,\u201d said Maqelepo.<\/p>\n

These Public Health (Covid-19) Regulations offences attract a minimum of M5, 000 fine or a month imprisonment or both and if committed by an ordinary person and if by the business it attracts M10, 000<\/p>\n

fine or two months imprisonment or both. The representatives who were present at the meeting where these resolutions were made are: LMPS Senior Assistant Commissioner Ezekiel Senti, LDF Major General Ramanka Mokaloba and LCS Deputy Commissioner Matingoe Phamotse.<\/p>\n
