Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>As Lesotho joins the world in celebrating Women\u2019s Month, a group of women civic groups has planned a solidarity prayer visit for former Social development minister \u2019Matebatso Doti tomorrow following the reported assault she suffered at her home.
\nThe women led associations, namely; SHEHIVE, BASALI BATS\u2019OENYANE and THURSDAYS IN BLACK (TIB) told Public Eye Online they want to support her in her tough times, but above all, they also want to make a clear statement that they will not tolerate women abuse in any form.
\nEveryone is invited to Mme Doti\u2019s home at Lithabaneng for the event which starts at 3pm. Towards the end of last month at around 11pm, about eight assailants broke into Doti\u2019s house through a bathroom window and stormed her bedroom where they found her asleep.
\n\u201cThe attackers stabbed honourable Doti several times with a sharp object,\u201d police spokesperson Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli said in a statement.
\nMopeli said the assailants then took two guns from the house, ATM cards and a wallet which had M400 and Doti\u2019s car keys. \u201cThey fled with her car which was later found abandoned and they also withdrew M4,000 from the First National Bank (FNB) ATM,\u201d he added.
\nHe said investigations had been launched and called on anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects to \u201ccome forward\u201d. Government spokeperson Ntakeng Selinyane said last month: \u201cPolice working together with other security establishments, have launched investigations that will lead to the arrest of these goons.\u201d<\/p>\n
