Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The new Representative of the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF), Mr. Deepak Bhaskaran has assured the Government of Lesotho on UNICEF\u2019s continued commitment to improve the health and well-being of Basotho children and families.
\nThese he said while presenting his credentials before the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Hon. \u2018Mat\u0161epo Ramakoae last week Friday. Mr. Bhaskaran replaces Ms. Anurita Bains.
\nDuring his three-year tenure, the incoming UNICEF Representative to Lesotho will play a critical role in steering the Lesotho Country Office towards the realization of its own commitment to supporting children living in the country and their families to realize their rights and develop their full potential in the areas of health, education, nutrition , hygiene, sanitation and protection.<\/p>\n

\u201cUNICEF will continue to align its development work to national policies and action plans such as Lesotho\u2019s National Strategic Development Plan, which is key document that informs our work for children and their families in the country,\u201d he uttered in a press statement issued by UNICEF Lesotho yesterday.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the Government of Lesotho, Hon. Ramakoae indicated that the Government of Lesotho appreciates its partnership with UNICEF and welcomes the continued support the organization is providing to ensure that Basotho children develop their full potential.
\nShe also appreciated UNICEF\u2019s continued support to the country\u2019s development agenda and priorities citing notable work done in improving the child-related indicators in different areas such as health and education.<\/p>\n
