Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The acting Auditor-General (AG) who is also the Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Board of Auditors, Monica Besetsa has tabled the report on audit of the SADC for the year ended 31 March, 2022.
\nThis is according to the statement issued by the AG\u2019s office. \u201cMs Monica Besetsa returned to Lesotho from Botswana yesterday [Thursday] after presenting to Management of SADC Secretariat and to an Oversight Committee, a report on the audit of SADC for the year ended 31 March 2022.
\n\u201cIn accordance with the rotation policy, SADC Council of Ministers at its meeting held in Malawi in August 2021 appointed the Auditors-General (sic) of the King of Lesotho (Chair), Republic of Madagascar and Republic of Botswana as members of the Board of Auditors for the purposes of auditing the SADC Secretariat for the year 2021\/2022,\u201d reads the statement in pertinent part.<\/p>\n

The statement further says, seven Audit experts were draw from Lesotho, three from Madagascar and two from Botswana to conduct the audit exercise that ran from May 9, 2022 to June 30, 2022.<\/p>\n

The AG\u2019s office said Lesotho had served in the SADC Board of Auditors for three years now. The Audit Report is expected to be tabled before the SADC Council of Ministers slated for August this year, the statement has said.
\nSADC is a regional economic community (REC) consisting of 15 Member States; Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, eSwatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. It is amongst others mandated to promote regional integration and advance regional development while also fighting poverty within the region.<\/p>\n
