{"id":19943,"date":"2022-09-20T12:43:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-20T12:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/murder-documents-disappear"},"modified":"2022-09-20T12:43:00","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T12:43:00","slug":"murder-documents-disappear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/murder-documents-disappear","title":{"rendered":"Murder documents disappear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Documents that the prosecution was relying on to build a case against Qamo Matela, a Berea man who made headlines last year for allegedly battering his wife to death, have disappeared.<br \/>\nJustice Ts\u030celiso Mokoko had to postpone the case to October 12 earlier today, with instructions to the crown to find the missing evidence before Thursday.<br \/>\nMatela is accused of strangling and hitting his wife \u2019Mahlompho Matela until she died. She sustained fatal injuries on the neck and other parts of the body.<br \/>\nAt an emotional funeral in June last year, the Matela family told mourners that \u2019Mahlomho fell in a bath basin and sustained serious injuries but her maiden family insisted that she was battered by her husband.<br \/>\nThe case was supposed to have started today.<br \/>\nHigh Court judge, Justice Mokoko, said he was unhappy that the evidence has disappeared.<br \/>\n\u201cThe court is unhappy about this behaviour but (for) the sake of justice to be served the case will only be postponed till Thursday the 15th September this year,\u201d the judge said.<br \/>\n\u201cI cannot under any circumstances postpone this matter to the 12th October.
