Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Seeds, herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers will be sold from Tuesday this week in all districts in the highlands. This was revealed by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Mr. Keketso Sello in his statement. Mr.<\/p>\n

Sello said such districts include Qacha\u2019s Nek, Mokhotlong and Thaba- Tseka saying they will be followed by Botha Bothe, Leribe, Berea, Ha Foso, Mafeteng, Mohale\u2019s Hoek and Quthing starting from Monday next week.<\/p>\n

He noted that due to the market price increase, each farmer will be allowed to buy 10 bags of fertilizers and five bags of seeds, saying those who will buy in blocks will get 100 bags of fertilizers and 20 bags of seeds per person.<\/p>\n

He further mentioned that farmers\u2019 associations will also get 100 bags of fertilizers and 20 bags of seeds, adding that they are expected to present a list of farmers whom they will be buying for.<\/p>\n

He stressed that all farmers are expected to buy these farming inputs in their districts and will collect lists of inputs they are intending to buy at the ministry\u2019s offices based in the districts.<\/p>\n

He added that payments will be made at Standard Lesotho Bank and the account number will be provided in districts, appealing to farmers to accept how things will be done this year due to the prevailing situation and engage in summer cropping.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security aims to provide expert advisory agricultural services to the farming community and agro-businesses leading to sustainable agriculture for the achievement of food security.<\/p>\n
