Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Prime Minister Mr Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane will participate in the Dakar 2 feed Leaders\u2019 Summit which will commence on January 25 in Senegal. In an interview with the Agency on Tuesday, the Press Attache\u0301 at the Prime Minister\u2019s Office Mr.<\/p>\n

Thapelo Mabote said the Prime Minister is expected to depart on Tuesday. He added that on his entourage will be the Minister of Finance and Development Planning as well as the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition.<\/p>\n

He explained that the key on the agenda includes presidential roundtable discussions, high-level plenary, and Food and Agricultural Delivery Compact sessions.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Dakar 2 Summit builds on the first edition that was held in 2015 during which Feed Africa developed a Strategy for Agricultural Transformation in Africa 2016 \u2013 2025 of the African Development Bank Group was proposed.<\/p>\n

After 6 years of implementation, the Bank Group is reported to have supported more than 250 million people to benefit from improvements in agriculture.<\/p>\n

This strategy also helped the Bank Group to promptly respond to the impact on Africa\u2019s food security of Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine by launching a $1.5 billion, estimated at (M25.7) billion African Emergency Food Production Facility to support 20 million farmers to produce 38 million metric tons of food valued at $12 billion (M205.8 billion).<\/p>\n

Within only 45 days after the launch of the facility, the Bank Group had approved $1.13 billion (M19.4 billion) for operations in 24 countries. The three-day Summit will be hosted by President Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal and the current chairperson of the African Union. It will be co-hosted by the African Development Bank Group.<\/p>\n
