Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Health, Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane launched the Integrated Health Services Program at St. Peter Claver clinic, Rothe. Mr. Mochoboroane said the aim of the Integrated Health Services programme is to prevent illnesses other than curing, adding that an integrated way of providing health services is crucial as some diseases can be detected at an early stage.<\/p>\n

He said they consulted the World Health Organisation (WHO) for guidance on how to use available resources to implement the program, mentioning that they have trained doctors.<\/p>\n

\u201cHealth services delivery has to be strengthened at the community level and if we are able to prevent it at the community level, our hospitals will not be congested.<\/p>\n

Continuous trips to hospitals symbolise our failure to do our job in the community,\u201d said Mr. Mochoboroane. He said he was encouraged to learn that St.<\/p>\n

Peter Claver clinic offers good services. \u201cI do not want to hear complaints of the clinic opening as late as 9:00 or not delivering services. My expectation is for the clinic to deliver services\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Mr. Mochoboroane appealed to health professionals to collaborate with Village Health Workers (VHW) to get accurate data. Integrated Health Services are aimed at improving health services in the country. It was piloted at Rothe St Claver clinic and the Ministry will implement the program in other districts.<\/p>\n
