Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>MASERU \u2013 The Prime Minister (PM) Dr Moeketsi Majoro has tested positive for COVID-19. This is according to the statement released by his office today.<\/p>\n

It is reported that the PM undertook the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests for his scheduled private travel which returned positive. Dr Majoro will remain in isolation until<\/p>\n

he is cleared, the statement has said. \u201c\u201cI would like to share with the public the important message I drew from this experience: (1) had it not been for<\/p>\n

testing required for travel, I would not have known that I am COVID positive; (2) even if you are vaccinated, you could still get infected by coronavirus and<\/p>\n

can still spread it unknowingly ; (3) being vaccinated is likely to prevent the onset of serious illness, hospitalisation and possible death from the virus;<\/p>\n

(4) being vaccinated may not prevent infection from yet unknown Covid variants.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe important message is that even when you are vaccinated, you should still follow WHO [World Health Organisation] and<\/p>\n

Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols at all times. Being vaccinated should not bring about reckless behaviour as an infected person can infect other people<\/p>\n

who are not vaccinated,\u201d\u201d said the PM. Earlier in March, the PM along the Royal Family and other dignitaries rolled up their sleeves taking first AstraZeneca<\/p>\n

jabs at Scott Hospital in Morija during the launch of the vaccination program. He has previously announced that the government aims to inoculate about 1.4 million people.<\/p>\n

Some of the African leaders who have contracted the virus albeit having succumbed to it are: Prime Minister of Eswatini Ambrose Dlamini, Ivory Coast\u2019s Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko President of Tanzania Dr John<\/p>\n
