Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Despite Lesotho remaining as one of the only two African countries without a confirmed case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) alongside Comoros, a need to beef up the health<\/p>\n

system against this virus remains strong as this pandemic remains to take lives throughout the globe. It does however, come as a blessing that the pandemic has not hit the Mountain Kingdom as yet, as Lesotho\u2019s health capacity<\/p>\n

has been highly questionable. Hospitals and health centers have, on numerous occasions, voiced their concern with regards to lack of protective equipment<\/p>\n

for their health care professional personnel. The equipment is only coming in more recently, thanks to donations from the local business community, Chinese<\/p>\n

government and Chinese businessman, Jack Ma. The second batch of medical equipment from Jack Ma arrived in Lesotho on Friday, while the one from the Chinese<\/p>\n

government arrived over the weekend. The equipment includes masks, extraction kits, protective clothes and test kits among others. There were also about two<\/p>\n

breathing (ventilation) support machines from Jack Ma foundation. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Informative Newspaper on Friday, The People\u2019s Republic of China (PRC) Ambassador to<\/p>\n

Lesotho His Excellency Lei Kezhong, reassured that his country is determined to help Lesotho in this battle. The donations from Chinese government and its<\/p>\n

citizen Jack Ma, through his business Jack Ma foundation he said, are a strong signal for the level of \u2018friendship\u2019 between the two countries and their<\/p>\n

people. The donated equipment he said, will help Lesotho to stand well prepared should the pandemic hit the country. The equipment was received by the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) at Moshoeshoe I International<\/p>\n

Airport. According to the Minister of Health (MOH) Hon. Nkaku Kabi, LDF will partner with the National Drug Service Organization (NDSO) in storing and<\/p>\n

distributing this equipment to the health facilities. This he said, is to ensure that the equipment does not get stolen like the first batch of donations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
