Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Darts Association (LDA) elected a new National Executive Committee at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Makoanyane barracks on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The committee election, which saw Lebohang Khojane retain his presidency post, headlined the AGM, with annual reports and constitution amendment also forming part of the agenda.<\/p>\n

To accommodate youth and women, two new posts were introduced to the constitution \u2013 youth representative and women representative, which are occupied by \u2018Makuena Lesiea<\/p>\n

and \u2018Malefa Lithebe. Khojane expressed delight over his re-election and indicated that he is, \u201cpleased to have been voted for again, that could mean that I\u2019ve been doing my duties well or my colleagues trust me<\/p>\n

to lead this association further,\u201d Khojane said. Following the amendment of the constitution, the incoming committee\u2019s term in office will be extended to five<\/p>\n

years instead of the previous norm of two-year terms. Khojane says during his new term in office, he is willing to see the sport grow further, especially<\/p>\n

among kids throughout the country since that can be a great foundation. \u201cIt\u2019s our responsibility as the new committee to ensure that we accommodate kids in<\/p>\n

this sport,\u201d he added. \u201cThis sport is very refreshing in terms of how one\u2019s mind works, so it\u2019s good for the kids\u2019 education, especially when it comes to Mathematics \u2013 they come across calculations that they need to<\/p>\n

solve during darts matches. We want to reach more primary schools as another way of making the sport accessible to many at grassroots level throughout the<\/p>\n

country. \u201cWe will however, need sponsorship for that since we are looking into educating and training primary schools teachers to become coaches at their respective schools.<\/p>\n

The schools would then be pitted against each other in a competition, and that would make it easier for us to approach Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission (LSRC) for subvention,\u201d he<\/p>\n

noted. Khojane said that his association is currently carrying out its activities without the national league due to financial constraints, insisting that they are ready to welcome any form of<\/p>\n

sponsorship at this moment. \u201cWith the subvention we used to receive from LSRC, we were having the national league; but without it now, we have to look for the<\/p>\n

league\u2019s sponsors,\u201d he said. \u201cWe organize the league and other tournaments only when we have financial backing or sponsorship. At the moment, Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) has been our main sponsor for the association to<\/p>\n

keep running, and we\u2019re thankful for that. We currently have 16 teams registered under the association country-wide. \u201d In the new set-up, only Khojane and Treasurer Kuena Molefi retain their positions as new faces emerge.
