Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The chairperson of Parliament Social Cluster Committee Hon. Fako Moshoeshoe has been voted chairman of the Network of the African Parliamentary Committees<\/p>\n

of Health (NEAPACOH) at a meeting that was held in Uganda Kampala recently. This will see the office of this committee established locally. It will be the only<\/p>\n

one in the southern region and all other associated African countries shall be reporting directly to Lesotho. NEAPACOH was established in 2003 with the aim of ensuring that policies are fully<\/p>\n

implemented in the region since there was a gap in that regard. Parliamentarians play a key role by making sure that there is a link between government and<\/p>\n

citizens on laws and treaties, budget and overseeing in implementation of national programs. Every year, Partners in Population and Development Africa Regional Office (PPD ARO),<\/p>\n

in conjunction with the Network of African Parliamentary Committees of Health (NEAPACOH) and partners, organizes meetings of the NEAPACOH. The meeting<\/p>\n

participants are drawn from Parliamentarians who chair or are members of the parliamentary committees of health and their Committee Clerks, Development<\/p>\n

Partners, Civil Society Organizations, and other stakeholders involved in Family Planning, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health<\/p>\n

(RMNCAH) programmes. Speaking at a press conference that was held on Friday, Moshoeshoe reiterated that by<\/p>\n

this chairmanship, Lesotho is tasked with overseeing the lives of people in African continents wherein the office will be receiving reports from other<\/p>\n

countries. With that being said he stated that this presents a great challenge for Lesotho towards broadening its scope and working harder to improve the lives of the people so<\/p>\n

to be exemplary in that regard. The victory he said is not only his but that of the Lesotho government and Basotho in general. His ability to present Lesotho challenges in big forums on the continental and<\/p>\n

global level, he said, paved his way to this victory since the office\u2019s main objective is to improve the lives of people. Lesotho is expected to take this chairmanship for a period of 3 years after which elections will be held again to determine the next country to host the office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
