Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A South African couple from Pretoria, Daryl and Cecilia Nuwenhuys recently took a tour of Lesotho and are more than impressed as they vow to come back<\/p>\n

again, then with their children. The couple took the northern route tour that includes places of interest such as Liphofung, T\u0161ehlanyane, and Clarens among others, which was organized by the<\/p>\n

Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP). The guests were winners of a tour competition by the project during its last exhibition in April at the Rand show in Gauteng.<\/p>\n

They were a winning couple of the two that won a tour package that included accommodation with access to local tour operators in a bid to jointly promote tourism within the country and<\/p>\n

showcase the different LHWP areas. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Informative Newspaper last week, the couple described the Lesotho tour as highly informative.<\/p>\n

Despite never having had plans to visit Lesotho before, they emphasized that they however do not regret coming to Lesotho. The couple was mesmerized by the whole experience and plan<\/p>\n

to come back in future. They plan on bringing their children so that they can also experience the greatness of Lesotho as a country. \u201cAbove all, we were fascinated by the firsthand experience and information about the<\/p>\n

source and processes involved in producing the water that we use back in South Africa. It seems like a very expensive investment and we truly appreciate it.<\/p>\n

Going back home we will surely try to use water with caution and not waste it anymore. Most of the time, when we draw water from the taps, we fail to appreciate the complexities of where and how far it comes before it gets to us.<\/p>\n

We are really appreciative and certainly want our children to be exposed to this knowledge as well,\u201d said Cecilia. The nonexistent advertisements about Lesotho tourism in South Africa, they feel,<\/p>\n

could be the reason behind their lack of interest and motivation to visit Lesotho. She highlighted that Lesotho has great tourism potential and could attract more tourists if it received enough international exposure through<\/p>\n

advertising. Meanwhile, Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) Public Relations Officer (PRO) \u2018Makatleho Noosi revealed that the exhibition in South Africa was basically an attempt to<\/p>\n

attract tourists to Lesotho. This she said they did in collaboration with Lesotho Tourism Development Cooperation (LTDC) and other key role players in<\/p>\n

the tourism industry. The hope is that these guests will aspire to come back to Lesotho and use the same accommodation and tour guides alongside all other facilities available.<\/p>\n

This initiative she said is intended to instill knowledge about the LHWP to the South African people who are direct beneficiaries of the project. By so doing she said they hope people will begin to appreciate the water that they use and perhaps even start saving it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
