{"id":3198,"date":"2021-09-12T10:49:13","date_gmt":"2021-09-12T10:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/idm-seeks-to-intensify-lesotho-health-system"},"modified":"2021-09-12T10:49:13","modified_gmt":"2021-09-12T10:49:13","slug":"idm-seeks-to-intensify-lesotho-health-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/idm-seeks-to-intensify-lesotho-health-system","title":{"rendered":"IDM seeks to intensify Lesotho health system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\">Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Through new health related programs they are about to introduce, the Institute of Development Management (IDM) seeks to contribute immensely to the Lesotho health system by producing competent health professionals.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to IDM Acting Country Director \u2018Makhosi Hlalele speaking at the Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance Forum that was held in Maseru on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>IDM has joined forces with a Botswana based health focused institution, Boitekanelo College in a partnership that will see the latter\u2019s four health programs offered through the former locally.<\/p>\n<p>The programs are Clinical Technology, Health Care Assistance, Health Promotion and Education and Emergency Medical Care. Hlalele emphasized that health sector is key for economic and human development hence producing<\/p>\n<p>qualified health professionals will help improve the lives of Basotho as well as the Lesotho health system. The forum engaged stakeholders\u2019 suggestions on how best these programs could respond<\/p>\n<p>to Lesotho\u2019s needs. The stakeholders involved were the Ministry of Health (MoH), Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS), Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) and<\/p>\n<p>others who are equally important. She stipulated that the two institutions signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) back in 2016 and have since been working on developing programs to be offered<\/p>\n<p>at IDM. Their programs she said are developed towards responding to Lesotho\u2019s national agendas, particularly the health sector agenda. Meanwhile, Deputy Provost Academic services at Boitekanelo College, Dr Morekwe Selemogwe-Matsetse likewise<\/p>\n<p>emphasized the importance of coming up with health programs that are specifically designed to meet the needs of Lesotho and its people. She went on to stress a need for consultation with stakeholders prior the accreditation of<\/p>\n<p>such courses to get their views.
