Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Ministry of Tourism Environment and Culture in collaboration with Alliance Francaise celebrated the International Museum Day under the theme \u2018Museums as cultural hubs: The future of tradition.<\/p>\n

The celebration was in the form of an exhibition that portrays the historiography of Lesotho National Museum and Art Gallery. Director of Alliance Francaise de Maseru Remi Beghin said the exhibition presents to Basotho<\/p>\n

what the museum will bring to Basotho and Lesotho. He added that the building where Alliance Francaise de Maseru is situated was the first library of Lesotho.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is one of the places that has preserved memories that were long ago created in Lesotho and it is now hosting a presentation of<\/p>\n

another step and phase in preservation of more memories and heritage of Lesotho. He said many historical artifacts from Lesotho are also in France and<\/p>\n

they will be brought back to Lesotho once the Museum is completed and among others there will be a magnificent dinosaur bone structure. Minister of Tourism Environment and Culture Hon.<\/p>\n

Joang Molapo said the exhibition launch of Lesotho National Museum Arts Gallery was the initiative of the tourism ministry in collaboration with Alliance Francaise de Maseru and Sesiu Heritage<\/p>\n

Custodians Association. \u2018\u2019The exhibition is intended to present the following; the background history of the development of the Lesotho National Museum and Art Gallery, the design of the<\/p>\n

museum building, timeline of events, the exhibitions anticipated to be presented in the museum and related themes and associated projects and stakeholder engagement,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

They believe that in creating awareness about the project, they will trigger Basotho to continue sharing their thoughts on what they would like to see presented in<\/p>\n

the museum and to further understand the merits of having a museum as repository of Basotho heritage. He said the museum will guide visitors to various places of interest in Lesotho, encourage visitors to physically tour<\/p>\n

Lesotho and many other institutions of this nature across the country. Lesotho National Museum and Art Gallery will be done by October this year and the first exhibition will be in 2020 if not<\/p>\n
