Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>ALLIANCE Insurance Company has bought two parachutes for the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Air Wing. The parachutes were handed over to the army at the Mejametalana Airport, which belongs to the LDF, yesterday.<\/p>\n

The LDF\u2019s Major Moeketsi Malefane said the ceremony to receive the parachutes marked \u201cthe start of a great collaboration between Alliance Lesotho and the LDF\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said for a very long time, the LDF \u201chas been struggling with lack of resources to enhance their training\u201d. \u201cWe knocked on several doors seeking assistance and Alliance Lesotho came forth,\u201d Major Malefane said.<\/p>\n

Major Khopotso Jane said they had challenges because of the number of parachutes in Lesotho. The chairman of the Alliance Insurance board of directors, Mohlomi Rantekoa, said they are aware of the hard work and the dedication by the LDF in protecting the nation.<\/p>\n

Rantekoa said this has not only captured local attention but \u201cit has also served as our history to be remembered going forward\u201d. Rantekoa said the LDF participation in Mozambique where the combined armies from the region are fighting insurgents has captured internal recognition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe LDF has been performing well in the territory of protection of the borders as well as fighting against stock theft,\u201d Rantekoa said.<\/p>\n

Rantekoa said Alliance Lesotho is committed to assist the LDF in various ways to enhance their services. He urged the LDF to effectively and efficiently utilise the equipment. He said the equipment should be handled in a proper way.<\/p>\n

The LDF deputy commander, Major General Matela Matobakele, said they are partners with Alliance Lesotho in security and the donation of the parachutes is a sign of their extended protection in the ground, under water, and in space.<\/p>\n

He also said it is their duty as the LDF to prioritise the protection of Basotho. \u201cThis donation shows the good relationship between Alliance and LDF,\u201d Maj Gen Matobakele said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis further opens up opportunities for other companies to help as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
