Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>At first attempt entering the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Media Awards competition, Lesotho Television anchor, Lesooana Moeti scooped the coveted prize.<\/p>\n

These developments were revealed at the recent SADC Summit held in Luanda, Angola last month.<\/p>\n

The SADC Awards run annually and are classified in four categories: Photo, Television, Print and Radio. For each category, there is a first prize and it is worth 2 000 USD, and the runner-up is 1 000 USD.<\/p>\n

Moeti walked away with a 1 000 USD approximately M18 000.00.<\/p>\n

Asked this feat mean to his career, he said \u201cbeing my first time to win an award outside the country means a lot to me and it is a clear demonstration that years that I have spent in my career have shaped and brought glory to me.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThus, I am determined to fuel the next competition. Who knows? Maybe I will be an overall winner\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said the bloc attaches great amounts of importance to the 4th Industrial era and technology in addressing the emerging economic challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cI decided to delve into SADC CYBER infrastructure implementation through the use of performance computing to respond to SADC Member States challenges, as some are at an infant stage in the implementation. In this, the area focus was on climate change and the importance of research.\u201d<\/p>\n

He entreated the fellow journalists to exploit opportunities such as these awards saying it is not only about the financial benefits attached but about the advancement of regional development integration.<\/p>\n

Moeti said there is much to report on the SADC region.<\/p>\n

The SADC Media Awards were introduced in 1996 to recognise the best media work that advances the blocs ambition of regional co-operation and regional integration.<\/p>\n
