Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Cyber stability is crucial in today\u2019s Fourth Industrial Revolution for economic development, the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Ms.<\/p>\n

Nthati Moorosi has said. Minister Moorosi said this when officially closing the four-day capacity building stakeholders workshop on cyber security held in Maseru on Thursday.<\/p>\n

She said the workshop, which brought together stakeholders in Information Communication Technology (ICT) and ICT networks came at a time when the Ministry is preparing to table a cyber security bill upon reopening of Parliament.<\/p>\n

She, therefore, highlighted the importance of cyber stability if the country is to develop economically and otherwise. In addition, she alluded that today, digitalising agriculture and the advancement of education are also becoming crucial in this regard.<\/p>\n

Ms. Moorosi thanked the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for having supported this workshop financially and technically. \u201cI am convinced that the primary objective of the workshop was met, which is to transfer knowledge about identifying, responding and managing cyber threads,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the Members of Parliament, Pastor Mokhothu Makhalanyane expressed appreciation to the organisers and trainers of this workshop, which he said forms part of consultations as the Parliament is preparing for reinstatement of the cyber security bill.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe delay of this bill was due to public outcry and we are hoping that such misunderstanding has been cleared ahead of reinstatement\u201d. On the other hand, the e-Government Project Coordinator in the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mr.<\/p>\n

Lebeko Sello highlighted the need to improve data management in Lesotho as well as building ICT partnerships to improve service delivery. The workshop which started on Monday brought together representatives from Ministries, regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies, academia and the private sector. Present here also included the MICSTI Principal Secretary (PS), Mr. Kanono Ramashamole and Parliamentarians.<\/p>\n
