Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>THE Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) will host the country\u2019s first ever tourism conference and awards in partnership with Sun Sound Tourism Consultancy and Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT).<\/p>\n

Dubbed Masutsa Conference and Awards, this pilot event is scheduled for \u2018Manthabiseng Convention Centre from 21 to 22 September, according to the organisers who spoke at a press conference held in Maseru this week.<\/p>\n

The project, the organisers added, seeks to bring industry players, government officials and tourism influencers under one roof and find new ways to enhance the country\u2019s tourism sector. The event is being held under the tagline, \u2018Reimagining our tourism, charting a warm prosperous future\u201d.<\/p>\n

LTDC Manager of Investment and Promotions, Mamello Morojele, told the media briefing that their mandate was to make Lesotho a prime tourism destination, adding this could be achieved through a shared vision with the private sector and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is need for the LTDC to cement a solid partnership with the public, private sector and institutions to provide opportunities in the tourism industry,\u201d Ms Morojele said.<\/p>\n

She further noted the Masutsa Conference partnership with the private sector, academia and government was one of the LTDC\u2019s collaborations aimed at enhancing the sector.<\/p>\n

Sun Sound Tourism Consultancy co-founder, Motlatsi Tsatsi, also spoke about the upcoming event, which she said sought to bridge the gaps in the tourism industry while also sparking new innovative ideas and honour tourism in Lesotho.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to unite industry visionaries, thought-leaders and industry change-makers in both the private and public sector to foster collaboration,\u201d Mr Tsatsi said.<\/p>\n

He also said the exchange of ideas, expertise and visions was pivotal for Lesotho\u2019s tourism and the Masutsa conference was the right platform for such discussions.<\/p>\n

For her part, LUCT Manager of Entrepreneurship and Acceleration Programme, Lisema Ramaili, said the Masutsa conference and awards were a call for action in the industry and tourism\u2019s beacon of hope.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are at a crossroad where tourism can serve as a catalyst of our economy, though its revival may need a highly skilled workforce and innovation.<\/p>\n

Limkokwing is a strong believer of sharing, innovation, and collaboration to enhance the economy, hence its partnership in the conference is part of the academia,\u201d Ms Ramaili said.<\/p>\n
