Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Fuel prices will increase again starting on Wednesday (04 October 2023) and have this time increased by 10 lisente in both grades of petrol while diesel has increased by M1.40 per litre.<\/p>\n

According to a press release from Petroleum Fund, illuminating paraffin has increased by M1.00 per litre thus Petrol 93 will cost M22.50 per litre, Petrol 95 M23.00, Diesel M25.40 while Illuminating Paraffin will cost M19.20 per litre. The Fund appeals to all retailers to conform to the said gazetted prices, as it is illegal to charge prices that are different from the gazetted.<\/p>\n

It adds that this appeal comes from past observations that some retailers continued to charge prices that are above those published, emphasising that any retailer who will be found charging prices in contravention of these newly set prices shall be prosecuted accordingly.<\/p>\n

It further warns the public that there is a toll-free number to which any non-compliance with the set prices should be reported and this number is 80022004.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Agency, some of the motorists appealed to the government to subsidise fuel prices as the cost of living is continuing to increase. In an interview, Mrs. Malehlohonolo Mohapi said she cannot afford fuel with her monthly salary because it is too little.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only fuel prices have increased but food and school fees as well,\u201d appealing to the government to review salaries of those employed including those surviving through the Department of Social Development grants.<\/p>\n

The Petroleum Fund was established with the mandate to finance petroleum related projects, to address the objectives of its enabling legislation which addresses, among others, the purchase of petroleum products in times of need, and the improvement of the distribution of petroleum products throughout the country.<\/p>\n
