Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>BOTHO University held a stakeholders\u2019 meeting in Maseru on Wednesday, where the new strategic plan 2023-2027 was presented. Giving an insight into the strategy, Dr Sheela Raja Ram, Vice Chancellor at BOTHO said the five-year strategy is driven by Lesotho\u2019s National Strategic Development Plan II review extensions, Agenda 2030 and 2063 among others.<\/p>\n

She said their goals for the principles of the strategy seek to build dynamic and vigorous students and alumni who can stand the test of time. \u201cThe level of economic challenges now require students to be change agents, learn not only in the classroom but implement and be educated for the future to become practical problem solvers in the industry hence the strategy\u201d. She stressed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the University further showcased its infrastructural developments in Lesotho that include a framework for the construction of BOTHO University at Ha Penapena, Ha Abia in Maseru.<\/p>\n

Among others, the Agency has learnt that the new university estimated to cost over M170 million is anticipated to open during the second semester of next year and will have suitable classrooms and laboratories to allow students to work in groups.<\/p>\n

In this regard, Mr. Golekanye Setume, Pro Vice-Chancellor, External Relations and Lesotho Campus mentioned that impact-driven research shall be intensive hence those wishing or working on aligned SDG research are advised to come and work with the university.<\/p>\n

Ms. Limpho Lepolesa, an outgoing student in the field of Health Information who has undergone a virtual internship in the Netherlands mentioned that opportunities such as these build cultural diversity as well as the foundation for enabling them to engage in their different assignments.<\/p>\n

In another story, Mr Lebohang Ramaisa of Econet Lesotho affirmed the partnership between his entity and the university, saying collaborations such as these are vital in terms of strengthening digital maturity in today\u2019s era of technology.<\/p>\n

BOTHO University is a multidisciplinary institution of higher learning born in Botswana 26 years ago. BOTHO is meant to equip students with academic skills while also producing globally employable graduates. In Lesotho, the university was established nine years ago.<\/p>\n

Present at this event included former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohlabi Tsekoa in his capacity as Advisory Board Member. Officials from the Ministry of Education and Training as well as other stakeholders.<\/p>\n
