Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>On a calm and rainy Thursday, participants from different walks of life are arriving for the two-day water and hydrogen in a digital future conference and expo held in Maseru. The Ministry of Natural Resources and \u2018Metsi ke Bophelo\u2019 have organised the expo.<\/p>\n

Dressed in their different cultural and business attires, many are seated and ready to get an insight pertaining to the intrinsic nature of water considered to be occupying 70 percent of the earth\u2019s surface according to water experts.<\/p>\n

Different water entities and projects from renewable energy to wetlands namely: RENOKA, WASCO and LHDA to mention but a few have their stalls already set, thus showcasing water as a valuable natural resource. Even non-governmental organisations representatives regarding water as a critical part of life and development are also present. Ms.<\/p>\n

Reitumetse Nthako of Irise International, a non-profit organisation dealing with alternative construction materials said they took an interest in the expo as they believe it has the potential to generate income for Lesotho and Basotho, thus promoting the economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are adamant that efforts such as these ones have a digital future and capacity to create jobs for our youth hence we believe together we can impact our country positively,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she hopes all will go well as the day is blessed with rain. Meanwhile, the Agency has learnt that the water conference comes five months after Lesotho Prime Minister, Mr.<\/p>\n

Samuel Matekane jointly with South African President, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa launched phase ll of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. This initiative was said to be a step on the journey to greater water and energy security for Basotho and South Africans and also a demonstration of human capital technology. Issues to be discussed during the conference and expo include water, hydrogen and digital technology for food security, women and youth in water.<\/p>\n
