Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>South African comedian, writer, and producer Trevor Noah has been nominated for the first time in the upcoming 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards, taking place in Los Angeles on 7 January 2024 on CBS and Paramount+.<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony, which honours the best in film and American television, has new leadership at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and an expanded voting body with 300 individuals from 75 countries.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old Noah, the former host of The Daily Show in the US, received the prestigious nomination in the category of Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy on Television for his performance on Where Was I.<\/p>\n

The stand-up comedy category is brand new for the upcoming Golden Globes, in addition to a second category, Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures.<\/p>\n

The Netflix documentary comedy is the Johannesburg-born comedian\u2019s fourth original comedy special on Netflix and will be available to stream from 19 December.<\/p>\n

In addition to I Wish You Would, Son of Patricia, and Afraid of the Dark \u2013 Noah\u2019s Golden Globe-nominated Where Was I details the quirky and hilarious experiences from his world travels while on his Off the Record global stand-up tour.<\/p>\n

The comedy special, directed by David Paul Meyer, was filmed at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. Noah was executive producer, in addition to Derek Van Pelt, Sanaz Yamin, Bob Bain and Norman Aladjem.<\/p>\n

He will be competing alongside fellow nominees Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, and Wanda Sykes for the award. The Johannesburg-born Noah has won various international awards, including a Primetime Emmy in 2017, an MTV Movie & TV Award in 2017 for Best Host, and three NAACP Image Awards in 2022.<\/p>\n
