Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has hailed South Africa\u2019s strong position in support of the innocent people of Palestine in the face of Israel\u2019s deadly war on the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

Both Iran and South Africa have taken firm positions against Israeli atrocities and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people since the occupying regime waged the war on Gaza over two months ago.<\/p>\n

In a Wednesday phone conversation with his South African counterpart, Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor, Amir-Abdollahian praised the African nation\u2019s \u201cclear\u201d and \u201cfirm\u201d position on the subject.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the importance of joint efforts by the two countries to condemn Israel\u2019s crimes and take practical measures aimed at ending the war and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n

The chief Iranian diplomat also expressed satisfaction with developing relations between the two countries. Pandor, for her part, said Pretoria pursues a clear and transparent policy on the need to support the Palestinian people and put an end to the Tel Aviv regime\u2019s atrocities.<\/p>\n

She added that the South African government has submitted a written request to the International Court of Justice to probe into the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

Israel waged the bloody war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n

Since the start of the aggression, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 20,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 53,000 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble in Gaza, which is under \u201ccomplete siege\u201d by Israel.<\/p>\n
