Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>BRITISH magnate Aaron Banks, whose controversial dealings with Basotho National Party (BNP) leader Thesele \u2019Maseribane recently made international headlines, is said to be coming to Lesotho.<\/p>\n

\u2019Maseribane, who is also Communications Minister, told the party rally last Sunday in Mohale\u2019s Hoek that Banks is on the way to Lesotho to seal yet another deal.<\/p>\n

He said this time Banks will be to Lesotho to negotiate investments in agriculture. \u201cThey thought I would be afraid to go on with this. I am not and I boldly announce that Aaron Banks is coming,\u201d \u2019Maseribane said.<\/p>\n

Maseribane called on women to venture into agricultural businesses because Banks \u201cis eager to invest\u201d. He said Banks\u2019 visit to Lesotho will not compromise him politically because he has nothing to hide.<\/p>\n

He said he is unfazed by allegations that his relationship with Banks is corrupt because he has already invited Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) to investigate him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou will be shocked at what the DCEO will reveal next week. I say Aaron Banks is coming,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u2019Maseribane\u2019s relationship with Banks attracted the international media with speculations rife that they were up to some mischief.<\/p>\n

The DECO even told the local media that it was investigating \u2019Maseribane and Banks\u2019 relationship to see if there could be any wrongdoing. This was after it was revealed that Banks paid \u2019Maseribane and the BNP in exchange for facilitating a diamond prospecting licence.<\/p>\n

\u2019Maseribane admits that he received the money but says it was on behalf of the BNP. He said the money came in the form of a donation ahead of the 2015 election and had nothing to do with the licence.<\/p>\n

British media was awash with reports that Prime Minister Thomas Thabane and \u2019Maseribane received stocky sums from Banks. In Britain, Banks was accused of financing the Brexit lobby.<\/p>\n

Thabane admitted receiving funds Banks but said he was not obliged to give anything in return. He said the money was meant for his sustenance when he was in exile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
