Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho, through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning is hosting the first African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) summit in Maseru from Monday. The summit is held under the theme \u2018promoting a prosperous Africa through integrated financial management process systems and governance\u2019.<\/p>\n

In her keynote address, the Minister of Finance and Development Planning Dr Rets\u030celisitsoe Matlanyane said this initiative is a clear demonstration of Africa transacting into a different and positive career development.<\/p>\n

She said this collective initiative should establish a purpose which will establish a platform which will allow the African continent to access services despite any inequalities.<\/p>\n

Dr Matlanyane indicated that this summit is a journey towards a prosperous Africa which needs the start of the implementation of good habits in the public sector.<\/p>\n

She advised the participants to create policies that transact between borders that will enable them to be seen as leaders of change in their respective countries.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Chairperson of the AAAG, the Accountant General to the Kingdom of Lesotho, Ms. \u2018Malehlohonolo Mahase said the AAAG is looking to provide a forum for African countries to collaboratively advance the public finances.<\/p>\n

She therefore revealed that in this forum Lesotho was elected to chair the AAAG while Ivory Coast was elected to be deputy. Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of AAAG, Mr.<\/p>\n

Frederick Riaga said the purpose of this forum is to create a platform in which public sector accountants can have discussions on how Africa can be its marketplace and allow Accountant Generals in the African sphere to create a trading platform within the African countries.<\/p>\n

Mr. Riaga said this forum is also expected to hold discussions on how well the accounting sector can survive in the world of technology. The three-day summit is expected to unfold issues of integrating Africa for continental growth and shared prosperity, good governance, transparency and accountability in the public sector. The participating countries include Botswana, Eswatini, Mauritius, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Somalia, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.<\/p>\n
